Intercom is very happy to properly announce our new Family Pride Service for the South West.

After our first Family Pride Event recently, we wanted to take the time to explain our new service and show how it can help you.

Our Family Pride Service will provide support for LGBT+ families. LGBT+ Families are families where at least one person is LGBT+. This could be an adult or a young person. We want LGBT+ families to feel able to ask for support when they need it. 

This support will include a variety of services, such as Family Pride Events, Parenting Support, Family Relationship Support, and Couples and Co-Parent Counselling. 

Our Family Pride Events will be hosted across Devon and Cornwall to give LGBT+ families the opportunity to meet each other in a safe space.

The Parenting Support programme will be a Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) for groups of LGBT+ parents/carers with children between the ages of 2 and 12. Triple P teaches parents a toolbox of strategies to help improve family life for everyone.

The Family Relationship Support service will allow our practitioners to work with families where there is tension or communication problems between parents (together or apart). This can include disagreements on how best to support an LGBT+ child in the family, or general disagreements between parents where one is LGBT+.

Finally, Counselling is available for parents who wish to work through challenges in a therapeutic setting.
