Phil Richards

Phil began his career in the field of Drama in Education in 1980, working with diverse groups, including primary and secondary school students, people with disabilities and difficulties, refugees, asylum seekers, prisoners, young offenders and gang members. He founded The Complete Works Charity in 1999, which enables disengaged young people to reignite their interest in education, through creative means.

Working as a teacher, when the full effects of Clause 28 were being felt and experiencing the rise of Aids (in which Phil lost his first partner, who he had been with for 20 years) were challenging times. During this period, Phil focused his energies on staging a series of productions to raise funds for Crusaid and The Terrance Higgins Trust and supporting organisations campaigning for LGBT+ rights.

After spending over 50 years living and working in London, Phil moved to Dartmoor where he now lives with his husband Jamie.

He joined the Intercom Trust as a Trustee in 2021.
