Adam Jackson

Written by

Adam joined Intercom Trust in 2021. A psychoanalytic psychotherapist in Private practice, he is particularly interested in queerness and the alienating structure of a normative society.

His training with the Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis included study of Gender, Sexuality, Race and Class within the subjective field.

Prior to this Adam has worked in the field of mental health coming from his post as Chairman with Cornwall Mind.

He also enjoys triathlon, tennis and scuba diving.

Describing himself as gender variant he hopes to bring first hand experience to the board.

Helen Casson

Helen joined the Board of Trustees of the Intercom Trust in 2020.

She is Executive Principal for Medical education across Devon and Cornwall for Wave Multi Academy Trust, working to ensure the most vulnerable young people receive the education they are entitled to. Helen is a trained SENCo, a Designated Safeguarding Lead and a Thrive practitioner committed to the principles of Trauma Informed Practice and is passionate about ensuring the need of all young people are met .

As a trustee, Helen is particularly interested in safeguarding and the links with education

Jana Funke

Jana joined the Board of Trustees of the Intercom Trust in 2020.

She is an Associate Professor of English & Sexuality Studies at the University of Exeter. Her academic research focuses on the history of sexuality and early 20th century literature and science, and she has experience directing and managing large collaborative projects. She is also the Co-Chair of the College of Humanities Ethics Committee and a member of the LGBTQ+ Staff Network Coordinator Team at the University of Exeter.

Jana is particularly interested in working with non-academic partners and LGBTQ+ communities to create and share LGBTQ+ heritage. She has collaborated with the British Film Institute, National Trust, Wellcome Collections and other national partners to ensure that LGBTQ+ heritage is revealed and shared with different audiences. She is currently directing the Adventures in Time and Gender project about trans and non-binary histories as well as the Out and About: Queering the Museum project with the Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM).

Simon Hill

Simon has been a Trustee of The Intercom Trust since 2018 and Chair of Trustees since 2020. He has a background in policing, including specialising in Major Crime  Investigation and in Equality, Diversity, and Human Rights, he has qualifications in managing equality and diversity as well as in delivering training,  however he is now a Director of his own property development company with his husband. He has had, or has board or management roles with the following organisations; Gay Police Association, Gay Outdoor Club, Cornwall Race Equality Council, Cornwall Equality and Diversity Network, and LGBTQ Youth Cornwall which set up Young and Yourself Cornwall in 2008. In 2021 he became a founder member of the Cornwall RFU Diversity & Inclusion Group. YAY groups are now part of Intercom Trust and take place in The Cornwall LGBTQ Community Centre and in Schools across Cornwall. Simon regularly delivers training in schools to young people on LGBT Awareness and at our conferences as well as other training to a variety of audiences including, teachers, police, social workers, doctors on Equality, Diversity & Human Rights, Hate Crimes and Incidents and LGBTQ Awareness. Simon is a regular host of an LGBTQ+ radio show, Rainbow Source on The Source Community Radio Station with his husband, Steve.

Georgina Savill-James

Georgina became a trustee in October 2018. She is a solicitor working in private practice in Exeter. Prior to this, Georgina worked in the voluntary and statutory sectors giving housing advice. Her prior experience includes working with the legal advice centre at The Terrence Higgins Trust. Georgina lives with her wife and their 2 children and enjoys walking their dogs, and listening to music. As a trustee, Georgina is particularly interested in policy and marketing and fundraising initiatives and she is currently Secretary for the Trust.

Richard Smith

Richard became a trustee in October 2018 and he is currently the Treasurer for Intercom Trust. He lives in Exeter and is an IT Project Manager. He has worked in the LGBT+ voluntary sector for both Intercom and it’s umbrella organisation Consortium. Richard and his husband enjoy walking their dog on the beach. His other interests include films, traveling and gastronomy. As a Trustee Richard is particularly interested in IT systems, strategic planning and; employee and volunteer welfare.

Suzi McGoldrick

Suzi became a Trustee in October 2018.She lives in Exmouth and works in Plymouth as Head of Development for a theatre, a role which includes Fundraising, Communications and the management of individual and corporate membership schemes.She has worked with charities for many years, both as an employee and as a volunteer. Her interests include theatre, music, podcasts and diligent list-making. As a Trustee Suzi is particularly interested in initiatives relating to Fundraising and Marketing
