July 2019

Date added: 23 July 2019

Wow - what a busy July we have had. So much has happened over the past month, some of which we will be updating you on over the weeks to come. But, for now, we really must share two key things with you all..

Number 10

We went to Downing Street to be a part of the pre-Pride Garden Party - which was a lovely event and a wonderful opportunity for us to represent the south west and give a voice to LGBT+ people from across Devon and Cornwall.

The Gathering

At the start of the month we held our second LGBT Conference (we've called The Gathering) - which was put together to help students across Devon & Cornwall learn about Stonewall, the riots and Pride. We had over 170 young people in attendance from over fifteen schools! It was such an incredible event, with so many fantastic things going on - including the LGBT+ lunchtime schools groups putting together several drama and poetry performances to celebrate the anniversary of the Stonewall riots. We also had video messages from Lord Michael Cashman (one of the founders of stonewall) and Ollie - the Head of LGBT policy advice at the Government Equality Team.
