The Intercom Trust gratefully welcomes a grant of £469,483 over three years from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities programme.

Intercom currently provides direct face-to-face support for local LGB and Trans and NonBinary people and our families across Wiltshire, Swindon, Dorset, Bournemouth, Poole, Devon, Torbay, Plymouth and Cornwall, and runs a South-West-wide helpline service.

Dr Michael Halls, speaking for the Trust, said, “We are enormously grateful for this grant, which will make a very significant contribution to our work and will help to improve the health and wellbeing of many LGBT people in the South West who are living with problems such as social isolation, discrimination, crime, bullying and harassment, or who have encountered barriers when trying to access the public services they need.”

Dr Halls continued: “This very welcome grant will fund a new Plymouth-based worker within our South West team, and will also: secure the future of the Freephone helpline number, enable the Trust to upgrade its IT services, enable the team to facilitate new local self-help support groups.”
