Practical Steps towards Equality for Health Services users

This page is unfortunately still under construction... nine years after we first looked for something to put in it.

Reflecting the strong messages we receive from our service-users, and from our community consultations, we are particularly eager to see improvements in the quality of service-delivery in relation to:

  • Mental health care at all levels
  • Health and Wellbeing Promotion (preventative & informational services)
  • GPs and health centres (primary care)
  • Hospitals, including maternity wards

We believe all these areas may be worryingly vulnerable to challenge at any time, especially now that the Goods and Services Regulations have come into force (on 30 April 2007---see our Breaking News page.)

Apart from the dedicated sexual-health and wellbeing services for gay men in the four counties, the North Dorset mental health team seems to be alone, in the entire NHS across the peninsula, in having shown awareness of the issues faced by LGB/T people in accessing general health services. They have shown a real commitment to dealing with these issues.

If you feel there's some good news to put in here, please please contact us!
